March 2008Evanston Garden WalkKeep Evanston Beautiful’s 19th annual Garden Walk will be held on Sunday, June 29th, 2008, from noon to 5pm. Seven private gardens and two public gardens in Evanston, Illinois, will be featured. Come get ideas for bed design, hardscape, and plants that do well in our climate, and have an opportunity to meet the gardeners. All proceeds go to support KEB’s environmental education programs.Advance purchase tickets are $10 for KEB members and $15 for nonmembers. They are available beginning June 2nd on Monday through Friday at the Evanston Ecology Center, 2024 McCormick Blvd, Evanston, IL 60201 or by mail order from KEB’s office at the Ecology Center. Tickets can also be purchased at the Ecology Center on Saturday, June 28th from 11am to 3pm. They also can be purchased at Bloom 3, 1503 Chicago Avenue; Natural Things Flowers, 2904 Central Street; and Saville Flowers, 1712 Sherman Avenue, in Evanston; and in Wilmette at The Chalet, 3132 Lake Avenue. On the day of the walk tickets are $20 for KEB members and $25 for nonmembers at the Evanston Ecology Center from 11 to 3:30. Earth Hour 2008

KEB's 18th Annual Garden Walkwas held Sunday, July 1, from 12-5pm. A representative from Horigan Urban Forest Products was at the Ecology Center from 11:30 to 2:30 to provide information on recycling backyard trees into lumber for benches, mantels, even baseball bats. A representative from Autumn Tree Care was at the Ecology Center to answer questions about caring for your trees.
EarthBox Workshop -- May 23, 2007Earthbox Workshop & Earthboxes were funded by a grant from the IL Environmental Protection Agency KEB had 22 participants at an EarthBox workshop at the Ecology Center. There was tremendous enthusiasm for using them. The appeal is that they are truly low maintenance, affordable, produce great results, and are sustainable requiring little soil and water. Each participant received an EarthBox.
